Bakırköy is located in the European part of Istanbul, extending its long coastline on the Sea of Marmara, with an area of 29 km2. It is surrounded by the Sea of Marmara, in addition to other regions such as Avcilar, Zeytinburnu, Bahcelievlar, and Kucukcekmece, while the distance from it to the center of Istanbul does not exceed 20 km.

Bakırköy is characterized by sophistication and luxury, its real estate and wide and clean streets are far from slums. It is considered the home of high-end residential complexes in Istanbul. Bakırköy is considered one of the most prominent areas visited by foreign tourists in Istanbul, due to its picturesque nature, moderate climate, sea views, and the diversity and multiplicity of tourist places there, such as the Florya area overlooking the Sea of Marmara, and its water park (Istanbul Aquarium), which is classified as the largest aquatic zoo in the Middle East.
